Director of Tennis and Operations: Lionel Eli

Lionel Eli is the Director of Tennis and Operations at Banbury Tennis Club. He has been coaching children and adults for over 28 years. Through his dedication to excellence, Lionel has helped our membership grow to one of the largest in North York. He has assisted many of our juniors by encouraging them to find confidence within themselves through learning and excelling in sport. Many of these juniors are now young adults who have received tennis scholarships at various universities and colleges throughout the United States.

Lionel holds a Coach 3 certification (the highest coaching certification) with Tennis Canada- National Coaching Certification Program, USPTA Elite Professional Certification (one of the highest certifications in the U.S.) and USPTA Wheelchair Tennis Certification.  He is also trained in Standard First Aid and CPR and is a CanFitPro Fitness Specialist. As a native of Barbados, Lionel has played in the Davis Cup and was named Davis Cup and Federation Cup Captain for his home country.

 

Assistant Tennis Professional: Advait Kirtane

Advait Kirtane is an Assistant Tennis Professional at Banbury Tennis Club. He has been coaching for 7 years and specializes in working with juniors and adults. As a junior tennis player Advait was ranked #3 in India Under 16 and ranked #198 in the World (ITF) as a junior. Advait attended Hampton University (Division I) on a full scholarship where he played #1 singles and doubles.

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Tennis Professional: Robyn Stewart

Robyn Stewart is an Assistant Tennis Professional at Banbury Tennis Club. She is a certified tennis coach, and is also certified in First Aid and CPR-C. She brings experience as an Assistant Head Coach and Head of Junior Development. As a junior player Robyn was ranked in the top 10 in Ontario. She also has a background in Recreation and Leisure Studies.
