Rules and By-Laws

Banbury Court Use Rules
  1. Full tennis attire and non-marking tennis shoes must be worn on the court.
  2. Courts are reserved by signing the courtside reservation board prior to a 40 minute play period and one member of each playing party must remain courtside to hold its reservation.
  3. A party may reserve no more than one court at a time and for no more than one 40 minute play period at a time.
  4. A reserved court may be claimed only at a changeover time (5 minute grace), and never in mid-period, unless the court is vacant and unreserved by members.
  5. Members “On Court” may continue to play through a following play period if the court has not been reserved by members waiting courtside. They cannot be displaced by other members who have just completed the same play period.
  6. Waiting members have preference over any who have just played.
  7. Preferred court reservation privileges are as follows:
    1. Seniors: All evenings from 7pm
    2. Saturdays from 1pm (except public hours)
    3. Sundays and Statutory Holidays to 1pm
    4. Juniors: Weekdays from 3:40pm – 7pm
    5. Junior members must not reserve courts during senior hours.
  8. Non-members may reserve courts during Public Hours: 4:20pm – 6:20pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
  9. Members may exercise guest privileges no more than once per week. An individual guest will be charged a $10 daily fee by the Pro or Court Monitor, each day they play.
  10. Guests are not allowed at Round Robins.
  11. The Pros have priority over court 1 and 4, for lessons on weekdays to 7pm and Saturdays to noon.
  12. Lessons are only given to members.
  13. Club supported tournaments, clinics, special events and private lessons take precedence over individual court reservations.
  14. The interpretation of the Pro or Court monitor regarding these rules is binding upon members present. All complaints shall be directed to the President, in writing and addressed to Banbury Tennis Club.
